Frequently Asked Questions
Below are the most commonly asked questions we encounter. We hope that by sharing them with you it can help you better understand the x’s and o’s of video production. Feel free to submit your own personal FAQ and we’ll be sure to include it in our database.
How much does a video cost?
This is our favourite question at Corbin Visual. Asking how much a video costs is like getting in a cab and asking how much to get somewhere. A 45 minute video shot in one take can cost as little as $1500 where a 30 second commercial can cost upwards of $50,000. A video is a media shell to fill with whatever content you see fit to communicate the desired messgae most effectively. You can fill it with high end content (eg motion graphics and animations) and/or the basic core ingredients (eg video & text). Your videos budget will be the sum of all its parts.
It is helpful to have a budget in mind at your project’s onset. If we can understand your budget from the beginning, then we can work around that figure and advise you on how to meet your objectives while remaining within your budget. While going above and beyond for our clients is a core principle at Corbin Visual, we always endeavor to delivery our clients the best available product for the best available price.
How long does it take to produce a video?
Where production timelines are also a function of a videos parts, we can sometimes turn around a video with minimal editing in 48 hours where more complicated edits such as promotional and training videos can generally take around 30 days from the day of production. Longer timelines allow for more dynamic edits and fine tuning to ensure your video is accomplishing the goals you originally planned your video to have.
Can we do the filming ourselves and give you the raw footage to edit?
Yes you can. Most of the time though we find that the costs associated with processing and preparing 2nd or 3rd party content is equal to if not greater than costs associated with producing all the content under one roof.
If I need to make changes to my video later on, can this still be done?
In short, yes. In order to do this though, you’ll need to enroll in one of our archiving plans. Even short videos can consume hundreds of gigabytes on our servers and cannot be kept beyond a couple weeks of delivering your final master. If you are interested in one of our archiving plans, be sure to let us know before your project is through.
Do I also get the raw footage with my final video?
Delivering your raw footage is a separate process from the creation of your video. Raw masters can be delivered via DVD or hard drive but must be understood at the onset of the project.
